Today is the Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola–one of my all-time favourite saints!
Founding father of the Jesuits, Loyola’s spirituality is as relevant today as it was over 400 years ago. His works have helped me to fall in love with God and to seek and find the Divine in the midst of the craziness of everyday life. I highly recommend reading anything Ignatian!
When he bid farewell to his close friend Francis Xavier in 1540–who was bound for Asia–Loyola knew full well that he would never see his young friend again. He sent him off saying,
“Go forth and set the world on fire.”
This speaks volumes about his confidence in the Lord, as well as his apostolic zeal. This was a man who was wise, forever young-at-heart, and who loved fiercely. He never failed to see God’s hand everywhere.

What sets you on fire?
