New Takes on New Years Resolutions Pt.1

Becs and I thought it just about now that you {like us} might be wavering in your New Years Resolutions. So we’ve come up with a couple different takes on the traditional resolutions to inspire you and give you another running start to making 2013 & the Year of Faith even more awesome than you were aiming for.

Take #1:

Enter the STOP DOING LIST…the most brilliant thing since sliced bread. All those lists you make each new year’s of how this year is THE year where things are going to be different and then enter February and it’s all gone out the wazoo and you’re left where you were when you made the plans in the first place one month the older…well, here’s something new to try: the STOP DOING list.

In addition to resolving to do new things – eat healthier, lose weight, spend more time off facebook, how about resolving to STOP doing things??

I can’t take any credit for this idea. I stumbled upon it while reading Jim Collin’s Good to Great for a business + leadership course last year. Jim Collins’ theory is that we cannot add a whole list of great pursuits while the things that are holding us back might still be in effect.

I’m gonna take an afternoon to myself this week to write my ‘stop-doing’ list. Care to join me?

Happy resolving,
E

  1. “We cannot add a whole list of great pursuits while the things that are holding us back might still be in effect” Nothing could be more true. There is so much in our lives we can aim to be proud of by beginning//accomplishing…so often we miss the opportunity to experience the freedom and power in practicing that very theory.
